Suspicious man arrested for ‘causing alarm’

Birmingham police on Friday, July 2, arrested a suspicious man found lurking in the backyard of a residence in the 1800 block of Washington Boulevard.

Police said a homeowner told police dispatch that a man wearing a hat, backpack and sweatshirt was in their backyard about 1:09 a.m. Police searched the area and found a man matching the description walking nearby.

Officers questioned the man, who denied being in the backyard. A witness said the man walked up the driveway into the backyard and was seen looking through the backdoor of the residence, as well as a neighbor’s residence, before leaving the two yards.

The man was arrested and cited for “causing alarm.”
