The Bloomfield Township Police Department, with assistance from the FBI and the Troy Special Investigations Unit, was able to make an arrest of a suspect who had made threats against the Oakland County GOP and a Michigan Republican Youth Chairperson.
On Saturday, November 22, the Bloomfield Township Police Department was contacted by representatives of the Oakland County GOP reporting threats made against the GOP and the Michigan GOP Youth Chair, Krish Mathrani.
Evidence revealed that a Facebook account was messaging the GOP threatening to use “Molotov cocktails for MAGA” and to “eradicate” them and their donors. The Facebook profile began making audio calls to the GOP threatening to shoot up the Oakland County Republican headquarters on Woodward and to light it on fire. The male on the line also threatened to kill Krish Mathrani and everyone that worked at the office. The male suspect threatened to “put a bullet” in Mathrani’s skull, police said.
Bloomfield Township Detectives, along with members of the FBI, were able to identify the Facebook profile as that of Ryan Lewis Vallance, a 34-year-old white male out of Waterford. Officers located Vallance in a vehicle near his residence and performed a traffic stop. Vallance was interviewed and admitted to investigators that he made the threats due to his anger with President Donald Trump and the GOP.
Vallance was placed under arrest for threats and transported to the Bloomfield Township Police Department. The case was handed over to the Troy Special Investigations Unit, which the Bloomfield Township Police Department is a part of.
This case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office which reviewed it and issued a one-count warrant for false report/ threats of terrorism, a 20-year felony. Ryan Lewis Vallance was arraigned at the 52-4 District Court in front of Magistrate Chiappelli on November 25. Vallance was issued a $1,000,000 no 10 percent cash bond and will be lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending his next court hearing.
