Thefts at Birmingham parking structures

Police responded to eight different thefts on Thursday, June 24, from vehicles parked in parking structures in downtown Birmingham.


Birmingham police took the first report about 8:56 p.m. at the Park Street parking structure, where the victim said the rear window of his car was smashed and the vehicle was rummaged through. Miscellaneous items were reported missing.


Police then responded to three thefts between 8:50 p.m. and 9:56 p.m. at the N. Old Woodward parking structure. All of the victims returned to their vehicles to find the driver or passenger windows smashed and their vehicles rummaged through with several items taken.


Police took four additional reports about thefts from the Pierce Street parking garage between 9 and 10:26 p.m. The victims reported the front and rear windows were smashed and the vehicles were rummaged through. Some items were reported missing.


Police said the incidents are believed to be connected, and they are continuing to investigate.
