Thief breaks into woman’s car and steals sweater

Although she remembers locking the doors, a woman from Birmingham found her car had been broken into overnight on Tuesday, May 7, while parked on the 1000 block of Grant Avenue.

The woman told Birmingham police that she saw the passenger door was slightly open when she returned to her vehicle the next day, and noticed the car was unlocked, but said she remembers locking it the night before. The only item missing was a $70 sweater, although the thief had rummaged through the rest of the car.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
