Two women in a car with out-of-state plates fled a Birmingham gourmet market on Saturday, October 16, after attempting to steal more than $1,000 in goods.

Birmingham police responded about 9:45 a.m. to Papa Joe’s, 34300 Woodward Avenue, for the report of a theft. Witnesses told police two women entered the store and attempted to leave without paying for several items. Police said the women left the items as store employees attempted to approach them.
