The employee agreement for Jennifer Haring, Bloomfield Township’s new human resources director, was approved 7-0 by the board of trustees at their meeting on Monday, September 8.

Multiple trustees expressed their excitement that she’ll be joining the team, filling a much-needed position for Bloomfield Township, according to officials.

“It’s certainly a position I’ve been very much in favor of and have been trying to get here for the past several years,” said trustee Neal Barnett. “I think it’s great for the professionalism of the township; I think it puts us in a much safer legal position than we have been in the past without this person in place.”

Out of the candidates who were interviewed, clerk Martin Brooke said that everyone was thoroughly impressed with Haring, who comes to this role with over 25 years of human resources experience, and that many were looking forward to working with her.

Haring will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management within the township, and she will report directly to the township supervisor. She’ll also be able to fill some much-needed gaps for township employees, who currently don’t have an onboarding program for new hires or an exit interview program, among other areas.

Supervisor Mike McCready is already working on an outline of items that he’s noticed Bloomfield Township is missing in regards to human resources, and seemed eager to get her on board to get started.

A 30-, 60-, 90-day plan will be implemented for her position that will be put together with input for McCready, Haring and other township employees.

“I think this is a great thing and I’m looking forward to having this professional person – you can see they have so much experience, and going to bring a wealth of knowledge to the township, and continue to help us move forward,” said trustee Chris Kolinski. “I really appreciate you taking the time and waiting to find the right person to fit this job. I think this is going to be a great addition to our team.”
