A Bloomfield Township man has recently been arrested and arraigned for accosting a child for immoral purposes and use of a computer for a crime in a case dating back to late summer of 2025.
According to Bloomfield Township police, in early August of 2025 a detective with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Bloomfield Township Police Department’s Investigations Division, advising them of an investigation which may involve a Bloomfield Township resident.
The Kent County detective advised that while she was conducting an online operation, posing as a 14-year old girl, she was contacted by a self-described 51-year-old married male from Michigan. The male told her that his name was Tom Jones and he wanted to know how old she was. The detective advised she was 14-years-old and asked him if that was an issue. The male stated no and they exchanged pictures of themselves.
After exchanging photos, Tom turned the conversation sexual in nature. Tom told her that she looked sexy and she should “feel sexy.” He asked her about her experience with guys and “what have you done with a guy before.” She asked Tom, “Do you care that I’m 14, I’m sorry I don’t have much experience.” The conversation continued and became even more graphic, including the topic of oral sex, and what he would like to do to her.
The Kent County Detective was able to identify Tom Jones by his real name of Duane Juriga, a 61-year-old-male who resides in Bloomfield Township.
At this point a detective from the Bloomfield Township Police Department took over the investigation. Throughout the course of their investigation they were able to determine that Juriga was sending the messages to the 14-year-old-girl until October 16, 2025, police said.
On April 24, 2026, the Oakland County Prosecutors Office issued a two-count felony warrant. Count one was for using a computer to commit a crime and count two was for accosting a child for immoral purposes.
On Thursday April 30, Juriga was arraigned at the 48th District Court and was issued a $50,000 10 percent bond. He posted $5,000 and was released pending his next court dates on May 11 and May 18, 2026.
