Bloomfield Township police have made an arrest of the bank robber who escaped with cash on Wednesday, April 1, from Mi Bank located at 3707 W. Maple
Through a collaborative effort between the Troy Special Investigations Unit, Southfield Tactical Crime Suppression Unit, and the Bloomfield Township Police Department, 51-year-old Deshawn Steven Johnson was located in Southfield on April 3. He was taken into custody without incident for the bank robbery. At the time of his arrest, officers recovered money believed to be from the robbery. Johnson has several prior convictions for bank robbery.
At the Mi Bank, Johnson entered the bank and showed a clerk a message on his phone that said “Robbery, give me all the $100.00’s and $50.00’s. No Disturbances.” The clerk complied and gave Johnson the cash from her drawer. Johnson exited the bank and fled the location in a black van.
On April 5, Oakland County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney authorized a complaint and warrant for the charge of bank robbery. On April 6, Johnson was arraigned in the 48th District Court before Magistrate Richardson. Bond was set at $1 million.
