Trio allegedly stealing from city retail business

Birmingham police are investigating a group of females and one male who are believed to have stolen roughly $14,000 worth of merchandise from a store on the 300 block of E. Maple in Birmingham.

According to the business owner, they discovered the merchandise missing on Monday, March 4, while they were doing inventory. They said that a few days prior, witnesses saw two women and a man enter the store together and leave without buying anything.

The owner told police that the man was seen trying on a jacket from the store and leaving wearing his original jacket zipped up. It was confirmed that the jacket the man tried on was one of the pieces of merchandise that is missing.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
