Two arrested on firearm charges in township

The Bloomfield Township Police Department at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, responded to a reported road rage incident involving a firearm in the area of eastbound Square Lake Road and Yorkshire Lane, and two arrests were made.

The victim reported that she was traveling eastbound on Square Lake Road near Franklin Road when a black Cadillac Escalade repeatedly swerved into her lane, nearly causing several collisions. The victim attempted to distance herself from the vehicle, but the Escalade continued to follow her, according to police.

The incident escalated when both vehicles came to a stop alongside one another on the roadway. The driver of the Escalade lowered his window, and the front-seat passenger, who was reportedly wearing a ski mask, pointed an AR-style pistol at the victim.

Bloomfield Township officers quickly located the Escalade and conducted a felony traffic stop. The driver, Larry White, and the front-seat passenger, Allen Udell, were taken into custody without incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a black Sig Sauer Rattler AR-style pistol, and a ski mask.

On May 29 Udell was arraigned in 48th District Court before Judge D’Agostini and charged with carrying a concealed weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious Assault). White was also arraigned before Judge D’Agostini and charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Both defendants were issued $250,000 cash/surety bonds and are scheduled to return to court on June 9 and June 16 for further proceedings.
