Two arrests made for theft of merchandise

Bloomfield Township police made two arrests on Friday, July 10, for retail fraud (theft) at businesses in the township, including Plum Market and Target.

On July 10, at approximately 6 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police Department was dispatched to Plum Market, located at 3675 W. Maple Road, for a retail fraud that had just occurred.

Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect, who was standing at the customer service desk. Officers spoke with a 23-year-old female, who admitted to stealing a few items by putting them in her purse. The items stolen included coffee, sour cream, and juice, with a total value of $34.47.

Officers issued the suspect a misdemeanor citation for Retail Fraud, and she was released from the scene.

On the same night, at approximately 6 p.m., police were dispatched to Target, located at 2400 S. Telegraph Road, also for a retail fraud that had just occurred. Officers were advised that the suspect had just left southbound on Telegraph Road in a black Kia. The suspect was described as a black female wearing all black with white glasses and a brightly colored purse.

Officers located the Kia and the suspect, who matched the provided description, on Telegraph Road near Maple Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke with the suspect, a 36-year-old female.

The stolen items were recovered from inside the vehicle which included a tank top, a pink glass bowl, and a silver chain, with a total value of $37. Officers issued the suspect a misdemeanor citation for retail fraud, and she was released from the scene
