Two vehicles stolen off Haynes on June 13
Birmingham police received two separate reports of stolen vehicles from the 1800 block of Haynes Street on the morning of Monday, June 13.
At approximately 8:52 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a home in the 1800 block of Haynes Street where the victim, a 53-year-old resident reported that his vehicle had last been seen on the street in front of his home at 11 p.m. the night before. He stated it was possible he had left the keys inside the vehicle, which he believes was unlocked at the time it was stolen.
At approximately 9:03 a.m., officers responded to a second call in the 1800 block of Haynes, where the victim, a 31-year-old male resident reported he had last seen his vehicle in his driveway at 10:30 p.m. the night before. He said the keys had been left inside the unlocked vehicle when it was stolen.
The resident reported his vehicle's tracking application showed the vehicle was parked in a parking lot in Detroit. Officers were able to recover the vehicle and attempted to dust for fingerprints, but were unsuccessful. The vehicle was released to the victim.
Birmingham police report there are no witnesses or suspects in either theft at this time. They believe these incidents are related to several other auto thefts in the area. Birmingham police are investigating.
