Unlicensed firearm found in traffic stop

After being stopped by Birmingham police for driving recklessly on Woodward Avenue on Monday, November 18, a Dearborn man was placed under arrest when it was discovered he was carrying a firearm without a license.

Officers on patrol pulled the driver over after seeing him recklessly driving while on northbound Woodward Avenue. The man let the officers know that he had a firearm in the car as well as a CPL to carry it. However, when the officers checked the license, they noticed it had expired the year prior.

The driver was arrested for carrying a firearm without a CPL, and Birmingham police say an investigation is ongoing.
