Unlocked bicycle stolen off Birmingham street

An unlocked bicycle left unattended on Friday, May 21, in the 400 block of E. Brown Street in Birmingham was stolen, police said.


Officers spoke with the victim, a 15-year-old Birmingham resident, who said the theft occurred the prior day when he left his bike on a bench on the west side of the Powerhouse Gym building before going to the gym at 7:30 p.m.


When he returned at 9:15 p.m., the bike was missing.


The bicycle was described as a red, Trek, D.S. 84, 17.5-inch bike. It was valued at $659.


Birmingham police are investigating.
