Valuables missing after family returns from trip

A woman and her son found several items missing from their house, located in the 1000 block of Shirley in Birmingham, after they got home from a vacation on Monday, August 28.

According to a police report, a watch, iPad and pieces of jewelry were missing, all totaling more than $12,000. The woman said the only people who had access to the house while they were gone were other family members and her cleaning person.

Birmingham police said they do not yet have a suspect but report an investigation is ongoing.
