Vehicle stolen from garage on Pilgrim

Another unlocked Birmingham vehicle with its keys in the vehicle has been stolen, this time from the garage of the homeowner in the 1300 block of Pilgrim Avenue on Saturday, July 2.

Birmingham police were called to the home on a report of a vehicle theft. A 69-year-old male resident reported his vehicle had been stolen from his garage. He said the keys to the vehicle were inside the vehicle at the time it was stolen, and he could not recall if the garage door was open at the time of the theft.

A second vehicle belonging the resident was found in the garage with its doors open. It had been rummaged through. The man said the vehicle was also unlocked at the time of the incident.

The victim's GPS tracking indicated the stolen vehicle left Pilgrim at 4:03 a.m., and a ping on the vehicle showed its location in Oak Park. However, when Oak Park police checked the area, they were not able to locate the vehicle.

Birmingham police report there are no witnesses or suspects at this time. They urge residents to lock their vehicles and to take their keys and fobs with them.
