On Saturday, May 3, a customer at the Mobil gas station at 1501 S. Opdyke Road had his Rolex watch, valued at nearly $13,000, stolen off his wrist.
Bloomfield Township Police Department took a larceny report from the victim who stated while he was pumping gas a man pulled into the gas station driving a silver newer model hatchback/wagon type vehicle. The man approached the victim, gave him a handful of jewelry, a $20 bill and stated “Jesus wants you to have this stuff.”
The man returned to his vehicle and the victim followed him and tried to return the items. The male refused to take the items back so the victim reached inside of the car, through his open window, and tried to hand them back. The man still refused to take the items back and left the scene.
A short while later the victim realized his gold Rolex watch was missing from his wrist. The suspect was described as a 50-year-old 5’9” white male, skinny/medium build with dark colored hair. The Rolex is valued at $12,773.
This case was turned over to the Bloomfield Township Investigations unit and is currently under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Bloomfield Township at 248.433.7755.
