Wallet taken from unlocked car in Birmingham

A victim of a larceny from auto reported to Birmingham police on Wednesday, February 23, that his wallet was stolen from his unlocked vehicle on the 700 block of East Maple Road.

A witness reported seeing a suspect weaving through parked cars in the lot before opening the driver’s side door of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect reportedly left the area northbound on Maple Road after exiting the victim’s car.

The victim later stated he found the stolen items in the trash can at the Kroger across the street, but $500 in cash was still missing from the wallet. According to Birmingham police, there are no additional witnesses or suspects currently.
