A traffic stop for speeding, made by the Birmingham on Thursday, September 11, ended with the arrest of the driver on warrants from other metro area communities.
At approximately 1 a.m., an officer conducting radar at Woodward and Oak observed a vehicle traveling 59 miles per hour (mph) in a 45 mph zone on northbound Woodward Avenue.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and, after checking the driver’s identity, found there were multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest from other metro Detroit communities for speeding, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license, including from the Royal Oak Police Department, which requested that the driver be transferred to their custody.
Birmingham officers arrested the 28-year-old Warren man and held him until Royal Oak officers could pick him up.
