Watch valued at $1,000 taken during break-in

A watch with an estimated value of $1,000 was reportedly taken after someone forced entry into a home in the 800 block of Watkins in Birmingham.


Birmingham police report that on Thursday, September 4, at approximately 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Watkins, where a 93-year-old female resident had returned home from an appointment to find the front door had been forced open and her jewelry box open. The contents of the jewelry box were scattered around the room., according to the police report. The woman later determined that a watch valued at approximately $1,000 was taken.


Police say an investigation is ongoing.
