Weapons violation, drugs leads back to jail
A Macomb man was arrested in connection with weapons violations early Sunday, March 7, in the 1200 block of Lincoln, Birmingham police said.
Officers responded about 6:22 a.m. to the area where a witness said she saw a man trying to get into a vehicle before heading down the street and getting into another vehicle. Police checked the vehicle, which was running and had its lights operating.
The driver of the vehicle told officers he was at his cousin’s house and was just leaving.
“Officers observed that his speech was slurred and he seemed confused,” the Birmingham Police Department said in a statement. “Officers observed an open knife on the passenger floorboard and asked the driver if there were any other weapons in the vehicle, to which he said, ‘no.’ Further investigation into the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun on the floor behind the driver’s seat.”
Police also located an unmarked pill bottle containing 74 pills, a tank of nitrous oxide and a small bag with an unknown white substance.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drugs and weapons violation and transported to the Oakland County Jail.
