Woman steals purse from display

A woman stole a $400 purse from a display model at a downtown Birmingham store on Saturday, July 30, during Day on the Town, Birmingham police reported.


An officer on patrol reported that around 11:30 a.m., a bag was stolen from a store display in the block of 300 E. Maple Road. Witnesses describe the suspect as a white female in her 40s with sandy blonde hair.


The purse is described as orange, about 12-inches in length, and valued at $440.


Police report there are no additional witnesses at this time.
