Women scam home store out of almost $300

Two women successfully defrauded the At Home store at 2101 S. Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township out of almost $300 on Thursday, January 25, by filling a cart with items and then requesting and receiving a refund on the goods.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., Bloomfield Township police responded to a retail fraud complaint that had occurred on Tuesday, January 23, at 8:30 p.m. The store director told police that after reviewing store surveillance, they saw a white female and a black female enter the store with nothing in their hands other than their handbags. The women were then seen on surveillance filling a shopping cart with goods and then approaching the checkout counter and requesting a refund on the items. The cashier returned the goods without a receipt and provided the women with a gift card for $280.85, and the women left the store with the gift card.

Bloomfield Township police report the crime is currently being investigated by the Bloomfield Township Investigations Unit.
