Women steal bags of clothing from local retailer

Two women allegedly robbed a Birmingham store on the 100 block of S. Old Woodward on Thursday, May 14, after attempting to return an item without a receipt.

An employee of the store told Birmingham police that a woman walked into the store to make the return and was asked to provide ID since she did not have a receipt. She reportedly told the employee that her sister would present the ID, but when the second woman walked in, they both filled shopping bags with roughly $1,700 worth of merchandise and fled.

Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
