Workers assaulted by customer who did not pay

Birmingham police were dispatched at 6 p.m. to a business in the 700 block of East Maple on Saturday, August 3, after two employees were assaulted by a customer.

Witnesses told officers that a 32-year-old female suspect from Detroit had received services but could not pay. The suspect had told employees that she would get the money out of an ATM but she did not return after an hour passed.

Employees of the business made contact with the customer and two of the employees were assaulted by the suspect. The suspect had been previously arrested for similar incidents in the past.

Police are investigating the incident.
