Carson's employee arrested for embezzlement

A 26-year-old Rochester resident was arrested on Friday, December 8, in connection with embezzlement at Carson's, 400 N. Adams in Rochester Hills.

Sheriff's deputies responding to a report from the store spoke with a loss prevention employee who said the woman had worked in the store's cosmetic department since late July, but stole items or cash totaling about $4,250.

Store investigators told deputies the items were embezzled in the form of fraudulent returns for cash and purchases made with gift cards from those returns between November 11 and December 7.

Deputies said the employee admitted to stealing items from the store. The sheriff's office said the woman has prior convictions for theft and embezzlement.

She was arrested in connection with retail fraud and embezzlement and transported to the Oakland County Jail where she is being held on $5,000 bond.
