Coat thief at Moosejaw gets away

Employees at the Birmingham Moosejaw store reported to Birmingham police on Sunday, December 10, that a man stole a Canada Goose jacket under his coat and walked out with it.

Salespeople at Moosejaw, 34300 Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, told officers who arrived shortly after the theft occurred at 11 a.m., that a white male in this 60s or 70s, about 6-feet tall, between 200 and 230 pounds, came into the store and took a Canada Goose jacket valued at $995 off of a hanger and concealed it under his own coat. He then walked right out of the store with it under his coat.

The man was described as wearing a full length light gray or tan coat, a red and blue plaid shirt, black gloves, a black and white striped scarf, black shoes and a black full-brimmed hat.

Birmingham police are investigating.
