Pontiac woman arraigned for cosmetics theft

A Pontiac woman arrested in connection with trying to steal hundreds of dollars in makeup from a Bloomfield Township beauty supply store was arraigned on Monday, July 8, in 48th District Court.

Bloomfield Township police said the woman, Amela Cecilia Lomeli, 26, of Pontiac was arrested in June after allegedly trying to steal about $400 in makeup by hiding it in her daughter's backpack at Ulta Beauty Store, 2161 Telegraph Road. Officers responding to the complaint reviewed video from store security cameras after the store manager said Lomeli entered the store with a young child and stole several items.

Police said she admitted during an interview to trying to steal the items.

Lomeli turned herself in to police on July 8 before being arraigned in 48th District Court on charges of retail fraud before Magistrate Julie Nelson-Klein. She was given a $2,500 personal bond and ordered to appear on August 6 before Judge Marc Barron at 48th District Court.
