Keys in cars lead to vehicle thefts in township

Bloomfield Township police said two residents who had their vehicles stolen from their driveways on Friday, January 27, may have left their keys in the automobiles overnight.

Officers responded on the morning of Friday, January 27, to the 300 block of Eileen Drive where the victim said their 2018 silver Toyota 4Runner was stolen from the driveway. The victim told officers that a key fob may have been left somewhere in the SUV.

Police responded the same day to the 2000 block of Colonial Way, where a homeowner said their white 2017 Range Rover was stolen from the driveway overnight. The victim told police they could find only one of the two sets of keys for the vehicle, and that it’s possible the second set was left near the vehicle.

Both incidents are under investigation.

Police ask anyone with information to contact the Bloomfield Township Police Department at 248.433.7755.
