Stolen wallet contained ID, credit cards

A woman shopping at Home Goods in Bloomfield Township on Monday, November 16, discovered someone took her wallet out of her purse, which she had left in a shopping cart unattended.

The victim told a Bloomfield Township police officer at around 3:40 p.m. that someone had taken her wallet from her purse while shopping in the store, located at 2185 Telegraph Road. She said she thinks the wallet was stolen when she left her open purse in a shopping cart unattended. Inside the wallet were her photo identification and several credit cards.

At 4 p.m., the victim received a fraud alert on her phone that one of her credit cards had been used at a local grocery store.

Bloomfield Township police recommend shoppers to not leave purses and wallets unsecured and unattended while shopping.

The case is currently under investigation.
