A group of eight males and females hit Dick’s Sporting Goods, 2105 S. Telegraph Road in Bloomfield Township, on Sunday, July 19, making off with stolen merchandise from the store. At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Bloomfield Township Police Department was dispatched to Dick’s Sporting Goods for a retail fraud in progress. Bloomfield Township police are reporting several larcenies from vehicles on Saturday, July 18. In all incidents the vehicles had been left unlocked and wallets were stolen. A Glock 19 handgun was also stolen from one of the vehicles. The Bloomfield Township Police Department issued a reminder to always lock vehicles and remove anything of value. These cases were turned over to the Bloomfield Township Investigations Unit and are currently under investigation.

Parkers in Birmingham may experience a small fee in the future as city commissioners took up discussions during the Monday, July 13, meeting, on a proposed 10 cent sustainability fee on parking transactions within the city’s parking system to generate funding for projects to offset vehicle-related carbon emissions.

The Birmingham Museum has received a Community Impact grant of $71,000 from the Community Foundation of Southeast Michigan for a special project to enhance the public experience of the Rouge ecosystem.
