Woman sees man attempting to pilfer from bag

A woman reported to Birmingham police that while she was shopping at Whole Foods, 2100 East Maple Street, the afternoon of Thursday, August 27, a man attempted to take contents from her purse. She told officers she had left her purse in the shopping cart as she perused the store shelves. She then turned around to see a man’s hand in her purse. When she saw him, he ran from the store. Nothing was missing from her purse. The woman described the suspect as 25 years old, five-feet, 10-inches tall, with an average build. Birmingham police are currently investigating.
