Two masked men spotted stealing from cars

Two men in ski masks were seen by Birmingham police stealing cars around 4 a.m. on Friday, January 27.

While conducting a neighborhood patrol around Oakland Avenue and Poppleton Avenue, Birmingham police spotted a stopped vehicle with its doors open blocking a driveway. The officer noticed two individuals in ski masks enter a vehicle before speeding away. Another vehicle, with the driver also wearing a ski mask, was seen across the street following the vehicle as it left.

Because of the vehicles’ speed, officers were unable to get close enough to attempt a traffic stop. The officer on patrol contacted the victim, who reported his wallet stolen. He said his credit cards had been used at several locations before reporting they were stolen.

The Birmingham Police Department reported there are no additional suspects or witnesses.
