Unruly SMART bus rider arrested

A 56-year-old man was arrested by Birmingham police on Thursday, September 2, after being kicked off of a SMART bus at E. Maple and Woodward for threatening the driver, police said.


Birmingham police said bus driver told officers the man was escorted off the bus for acting erratically. The driver said the man refused to wear a mask, was yelling obscenities and threatening and pushing the driver.


Police said the man became unruly after officers approached him. He was subsequently arrested for disorderly conduct.
