Planners review concepts for community center

During a special meeting on Wednesday, April 30, Birmingham’s Planning Board held a pre-application discussion on the plans for the new community and senior center building set to take the place of the former YMCA building at 400 E. Lincoln and serve as a new home for Birmingham YMCA and Next senior services.

Bell Bistro proposes expanded outdoor dining

In a unique situation with outdoor dining along N Old Woodward, Bell Bistro has brought plans to the city of Birmingham for expanded outdoor dining that extends into the storefront of neighboring business Paris Baguette, which Birmingham’s Planning Board reviewed during its Wednesday, April 23, meeting.

Plans for two bistros postponed by city planners

Reviews of plans for outdoor dining areas for two Birmingham bistros — Luxe at 525 N. Old Woodward and Origins Cafe at 163 West Maple — were delayed by the city’s planning board during the Wednesday, April 23, meeting because board members were left with questions regarding both restaurants' plans that went unanswered as no representatives from either bistro were in attendance.

This Sunday, May 4, the Birmingham Farmers Market will open for its 23rd season in Public Parking Lot 6 at 660 N. Old Woodward Avenue in downtown Birmingham.

Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, a Birmingham business on the 200 block of Hamilton Row suffered an alleged break-in.

Man arrested after home invasion attempt

A 53-year-old man has been arrested in Birmingham and charged with home invasion after a condo owner living on the 200 block of Harmon reported the attempt on Monday, April 21, at 2:30 a.m.

A 2024 Lincoln Navigator was taken overnight from a home in Bloomfield Village on Tuesday, April 22, but was later found.

Car stolen from home driveway overnight

During the night of Thursday, April 17, a car left unlocked and with the keys inside was stolen from the driveway of a home on the 1400 block of Suffield in Birmingham.

Suspect identified in theft at Dollar Tree store

The Bloomfield Township Police Department on Wednesday, April 23, took a report for retail Fraud third degree from the Dollar Tree store at 1571 S. Opdyke Road.

Leaf blower stolen from open bed of work truck

The Bloomfield Township Police Department on Tuesday, April 22, took a report for larceny from the Mulberry Square Apartment complex for theft of a leaf blower from a work truck.

CVS store theft included health and beauty items

The CVS store at 42934 Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Township has reported theft of health and beauty items from the location on Wednesday, April 23.

Traffic stop leads to arrest for past warrants

While driving north on Adams from Maple Road in Birmingham, a city police officer saw a driver on her phone and pulled her over. The driver, a woman from Fenton, was found to not only be driving with a suspended license but had three outstanding warrants in Beverly Hills, White Lake and Oakland County.
