The Oakland Circuit Court Judge now assigned the case involving a lawsuit by the city of Birmingham to prevent the sale of The Community House (TCH) issued a denial this week of the city’s request for a temporary restraining order and injunctive relief to keep the building at 380 Bates Street in the downtown area as a community center.

Bloomfield Township Police on Friday, December 5, at 7 a.m. took a report of a stolen vehicle in the 2800 block of Chestnut Run Drive. The vehicle, a 2023 Lincoln Navigator, was stolen from the driveway the night prior. Inside the vehicle was the victim’s wallet, gun and identification. The keys were inside the vehicle, but the victim stated they locked the car via the mobile app. The vehicle was later recovered by investigators in Detroit.

Birmingham police are investigating an alleged car theft that took place the night between Saturday, November 29, and Sunday, November 30, on the 500 block of S Glenhurst.  According to the owner of the car, his car was left in his driveway overnight, possibly with a set of keys inside, and when he realized the next morning, it was missing, his car’s tracking app placed it in Detroit.  Birmingham police reported that Detroit police officers did not see the car at the address,

While near the exit to the Peabody Street parking garage in Birmingham on Wednesday, November 26, a city police officer saw a 19-year-old from Warren tail his friend’s car closely to avoid paying the ticket fee for the garage. The officer reported that the teen was issued a citation for failing to pay.

A man from Montreal, Quebec, was cited for disorderly conduct in Birmingham the night of Friday, November 28, after he allegedly took a swing at a security guard.  According to the police report, officers arrived at the bar, located on the 100 block of Willits, after the man swung at the security guard while the guard was trying to remove him and his girlfriend from one of the stalls in the women’s restroom. The Bloomfield Township Police Department took five reports of larceny from automobiles throughout the township from December 4 through December 5. In total, police said, eight vehicles were entered and personal property, purses, computers, and shopping bags full of items were stolen. A package was stolen from a residential mailbox in the 600 block of Wilshire Drive in Bloomfield Township on Saturday, December 6. Bloomfield Township police took a report for a larceny of mail, with the victim saying that between 4:20 p.m. and 7 p.m., a Macy’s package with a Nike jacket was delivered and stolen from his mailbox. The victim advised he saw the package in his mailbox when he left his home, but it was missing when he returned. The jacket is worth $120. The case

Over $1,600 worth of baseball equipment was reportedly stolen from a Birmingham resident’s car sometime between Monday, November 17, and Monday, November 24, while it was parked in the driveway of her home on the 1200 block of Shipman Blvd.  The resident reported the theft to police on Tuesday, November 25, saying that the car was unlocked. Birmingham police report an investigation is ongoing.
